Confidence for English P2 Programme

The Confidence for English P2 programme is specially designed to enrich and enhance the English language skills of Primary 2 students. This will give each child a headstart for weighted assessments and examinations in Primary 3. Developed with a focus on building proficiency and confidence in English, the programme aims to empower young learners to express themselves effectively and fluently in both spoken and written English, through the infusion of IQ and EQ skills in our lesson plans.

Primary 2 is an opportunity to consolidate foundations and become more confident using English. Our Primary 2 English programme in Singapore brings together Academic Capability, Social Confidence and Personal Growth to support this next stage.

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is woven into our lessons, helping children understand perspectives, communicate thoughtfully and respond constructively when learning becomes challenging.

Academic Capability

Moving from basic understanding to meaningful application.
Children strengthen grammar, vocabulary, comprehension and composition writing. They practise explaining answers, developing connected sentences and organising story ideas more clearly. Exploring why characters feel or act a certain way develops emotional understanding alongside comprehension and storytelling skills.

Social Confidence

Expressing ideas and listening with purpose.
Speaking and presentation activities encourage children to organise their thoughts and elaborate on their responses. They practise listening to classmates, asking relevant questions and considering another person's ideas. Teachers guide them to share confidently while respecting others' opportunities to contribute.

Personal Growth

Building useful habits for increasingly independent learning.
Children are encouraged to reread instructions, attempt a task and ask a specific question when they need help. Guided checking and feedback help them notice errors and make improvements. Through these routines, they practise managing frustration, accepting correction and recognising that progress comes through practice.

Programme Overview

Grammar

Primary 2 students will master grammar rules laying a solid foundation of the English language.

Vocabulary

Primary 2 students will learn a variety of new vocabulary words and phrases as well as how to apply them to other components.

Comprehension

Primary 2 students' will develop the ability to thoroughly understand and interpret comprehension text through various practices. This would in turn build their skill of reading to understand and breaking down complex questions.

Composition Writing

Primary 2 students will build a strong foundation in writing coherent and compelling compositions, including sentence formation and creative writing focusing on helping them express their thoughts and ideas clearly using appropriate grammar and vocabulary.

Public Speaking and Presentation Skills

Primary 2 students will be taught how to deliver a solo public speaking presentation through awareness of presentation skills as well as many opportunities to present solo in front of an audience.
