Starting primary school brings new routines, relationships and learning expectations. At LK Academy, our Primary 1 English programme in Singapore supports this transition through Academic Capability, Social Confidence and Personal Growth.
Emotional intelligence (EQ) is woven into every programme, including how we explore stories, guide classroom interactions and support children through learning challenges. Our P1 lessons help children develop English skills alongside the confidence to participate and the ability to manage new experiences.
Academic Capability
Building the foundations to understand and express ideas.
Children strengthen reading, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension and sentence construction. Guided composition activities help them organise simple ideas into a meaningful sequence. Discussing characters' feelings and choices connects language learning with emotional understanding, while clear explanations and supported practice help children learn how to approach each task.

Our aim is to help your child build a strong English foundation, feel comfortable participating and approach primary school learning with greater self-belief.
Programme Overview
Grammar
Primary 1 students will be introduced to grammar concepts, including sentence structure, punctuation, grammar rules while focusing on sentence formation and correct usage to build a strong language foundation.
Vocabulary
Primary 1 students learn a variety of new vocabulary words and phrases as well as how to apply them to other components.
Comprehension
Primary 1 students will develop the ability to understand comprehension text through various practices and learning activities. This would in turn build their skill of reading to understand and break down complex questions.
Composition Writing
Primary 1 students will learn the basics of composition writing, including sentence formation and creative writing focusing on helping them express their thoughts and ideas clearly using appropriate grammar and vocabulary.
Public Speaking and Presentation Skills
Primary 1 students will be taught how to deliver a public speaking presentation solo through awareness of presentation skills as well as many opportunities to present solo in front of an audience.
