In Primary 5, the journey towards PSLE may begin to feel overwhelming. Our Confidence for PSLE English Primary 5 programme teaches students to embrace Primary 5 and guides them along the path to self-confidence and success in the examinations. We believe in the importance of instilling both IQ and EQ for your Primary 5 child to conquer any hurdles ahead.

Our programme covers these aspects of the PSLE English language paper:

Paper 1 : Continuous Writing (36m) and Situational Writing (14m)

This paper holds a weightage of 25% in PSLE English.

Writing is a skill that encompasses thought and process. We equip each student with many helpful writing skills that elevate their writing and impress the PSLE marker. Beyond that, each student will understand what is expected of Paper 1 and how to let their creative thoughts flow to score.

Visual Text Comprehension MCQ (5m)

  • Training mental staminal to read through the entire visual text
  • Learning how to identify answers in the visual text
  • Tips not to get tricked by similar options when it comes to choosing an accurate answer
Booklet B (65m)

Editing for Spelling and Grammar (10m)

The use of language and comprehension in this paper comes with knowing and understanding the fundamentals of English. Each student is first equipped with the grammar rules needed for a strong foundation.

In our classes, each section is taught with the 'How-to's' to ensure a strong understanding and giving the students the ability to understand what is needed to ace each section.

We believe in building the confidence of each student so that they believe in themselves that they have the ability to succeed. Through thorough understanding of each section as well as mock exams to build confidence in an exam setting and to work on time management skills, each student will have what it takes to conquer and excel in PSLE English.

Paper 4 : Oral Communication (40m)

This paper holds a weightage of 20% and consists of two components – Reading Aloud (15m) and Stimulus-based Conversation (25m).

Communication skills are necessary throughout our lives. For the Oral exam, students are taught the important pointers to ace this paper and how to use these pointers to score.

Reading Aloud (15m)

Reading Aloud is all about showing confidence, skill and emotion through your voice. Primary 5 students learn how to read aloud to score using important pointers which the PSLE examiners look out for.

In PSLE Oral, students are given five minutes of preparation time before it is their turn for Oral. These five minutes hold great importance. It is where students can familiarise themselves with the Reading Aloud text and predict the questions for the conversation. Students are taught how to do this.

Stimulus-based Conversation (25m)

Answering the Stimulus-based conversation questions requires confidence and skill. In our classes, each student is taught the best way for their conversation to flow to impress the Oral examiner, infuse impressive vocabulary and how to take it one step further and stand out from the rest.
